**And now for something completely different**

So you know us... back from one trip, and immediately start hashing out the details for the next.

We're going to New Orleans in June for my b-day (actually, we'll be there right before my b-day, that's just how the dates worked out).

A little background...when we cancelled our Las Vegas trip that was originally for this past Decemeber, we had ticket credits with Southwest. I was talking to Mom on the phone awhile back, and she said that they had 1 year from the time they BOOKED their tickets to reuse them... and all the while I was thinking it was 1 year from the time I cancelled! So I called Southwest and they confirmed that, yes, it was 1 year from the original booking date, which was last August.

So, panicked, I emailed Jon at work and told him we had to find somewhere to go, and quick-like. I went to Southwest's site and took a look at all the places they fly too out of Raleigh. It got narrowed down pretty quickly to New York and New Orleans, but the problem w/New York is that the flight goes into Long Island, and it'd be at least an hour's commute on the LIRR (or a really hefty cab fare) to get into and back out of the city.

So New Orleans it is! Yes, it's June, and yes, I know it'll be hot, but we're only there for 3 days. And since I'm turning 30, there's a good chance I won't remember a whole lot of this trip anyway... just sayin' :)

Jon's already started doing some restaurant research, and I'm trying to figure out what all we're going to do while we're down there... the word "casino" keeps coming up a lot in conversation.

If anyone has any good suggestions, let me know. We're pretty much open to anything interesting/fun/dorky.

I've been to New Orleans once to visit my friend when he was in med school. It happened to be the same weekend as "Jazzfest", some huge music festival, so we went and checked that out (which was awesome). We also did some cheesy gator bayou tour, which was fun for a SoCal boy, but maybe not so much if you've lived in Florida. :)

Finally, we spent some quality evenings in the French Quarter, getting bombed and watching girls show their bizoobies for beads. A surreal experience no matter who you are.
