It's a girl!!!

And she is happy and healthy :). Eleanor Victoria Michael entered the world at 6:07 p.m. on 7/12/08. Mom and baby are both in perfect shape coming out of the C-section. Pictures will be up in an hour or two when I can get home and download them.

So coming off the last post, this news may seem out of nowhere. I put that up and Kelly's folks went home, thinking we would call it a night. Our midwife came in and ran through a few options, either wait and see, or just go ahead with the section. We both said we wouldn't mind the surgery, so she said she would go check with Kelly's OB. When Vicki (the midwife) came back, she said the OB was good with the surgery and we could do it "soon." We thought "Oh good, this can get done by tomorrow." Vicki followed up that soon meant an hour.

After picking my jaw up off the floor, I slipped out to call Kelly's mom and dad. When I told them to do a fast U-turn, I let them know we could do the section within an hour.

Vicki in the background: "Jon, it could be sooner than that."

Nurse pops her head out the door: "20 minutes"

Umm, ok. So we found out about the section around 5:20-5:30-ish, and she was in the world at 6:07. CRAZY. It was really nicer that way since Kelly was a little concerned about her first major surgery, and this way she didn't have time to think. She was as brave as ever, pushed through, and the next thing she knew, a head popped over the curtain to say hi. :)

Congratulations to you all. If you didn't believe in love at first sight, I bet you do now. Hearing about little Eleanor makes me want another baby -- but then I remembered how well I slept last night. Best of luck to you all, and here's hoping she's a sleeper.

I think it's cute that Jon thinks his baby was born in June. That's what you get, vague phone caller! For real though, congratulations!!!! I love her already.
