Hour 41 of our hostage situation here at Women's Hospital. Kelly has not been able to leave the room the entire time. I feel so miserable for her. I went home twice, once for dinner and once to grab a shower today (the ones here are......lacking). She had a bagel this morning which was the first thing she had eaten in 24 hours. And yet she has held together so well. Seriously. I would be the first to say if she wasn't, but she's been great.
On a lighter note, last night they gave her some kind of pain medication through her IV to loosen her up and try to get her to sleep. She was out for about 2-3 minutes, then woke up in a start to ask me if we had just been talking to each other. I told her we were earlier, but she had been asleep for a couple of minutes. She freaked out, convinced we had been talking. For the next hour or so until the medication wore off, all she kept saying was "I don't wanna go to sleep, what if I don't wake up." It was kind of worrisome at the time, but looking back it's pretty funny. And taking in to account that she was never in any kind of danger, it's ok.
We trudge on here. We're watching Rick Steves' travel show on PBS, and he's in Austria in the Alps. The 15-inch TV almost makes us feel like we are there ourselves.
