Home at last

It's Kelly posting again.

First, thanks to everyone for the comments, phone calls, emails, and well wishes that we've received over the past few days. It means a lot to us to know that folks out there are thinking of us and supporting us, and we really do appreciate it :)

Since Jon kept everything updated, I won't rehash the whole birth story or anything, but after what seemed to be an endless stay in the hospital, we came home this morning! As we were driving away, I told Jon it felt like we were being cut loose from the mother ship, and he knew just what I meant. But we got home without incident, and even made a couple of stops to pick up some lunch and drop off my prescriptions to be filled.

Eleanor has been nothing less than great today. We set up her bouncy seat in the living room on the end table so we have easy access to her, but none of the animals do. Speaking of the animals, the cats could not care less... in fact, I don't think any of them have taken notice of her. The dogs, however, are thoroughly confused as to who -- or what -- she is. We let them sniff at her, and they will get up on the sofa and peer at her as she's in her seat. It REALLY throws them off when she makes any kind of noises... they get very alarmed and excited about that. I expect they'll adjust in a day or two though.

Physically, I'm doing OK. I'm pretty sore, but it's not as bad as I had anticipated. But once I've been moving around a little bit, it's pretty manageable. The worst part is standing up/sitting down and getting in and out of bed. (In fact, I'm not sure yet if I'm going to be sleeping in the bed or on the sofa tonight.) I have pain meds as well, so that helps. I just have to make myself take it easy and not overdo...it's hard for me to let Jon (or anyone else) do stuff for me, but I'm trying to get used to it.
